2011 Tax Assessments have arrived here in Manistee County! With the continued decline in both State Equalized Value and Taxable Values, it is very important that your 2011 tax assessment paperwork carefully to make sure your tax assessment accurately reflects the value of your property. The SEV should be one half of the value of your home. For example, if your home is worth $100,000 then the SEV should be $50,000. If you feel your property is over assessed, you only have a short period of time to protest your assessment with the local Board of Review. The review boards meet in March, but dates vary by each municipality, so be sure to contact your local assessor.
